Amazon Settings
From AffiliateBang Wiki
Amazon Access Key ID: This is comparable to a "username" in the Amazon system.
Amazon Secret Access Key: This should never be shared with anyone, it is comparable to a password.
To obtain your own secret code and access ID:
- Go to http://aws.amazon.com and click on Create an AWS Account in the upper right hand corner.
- After you have done this, there should be a link called Access Identifiers under the Your Account dropdown.
- Copy the access ID from that page, go to your AffiliateBang admin area and paste that into the access ID box under Amazon Settings. Click on the Show link under Your Secret Access Key and paste that into the Secret Code box.
Amazon Associate Referral ID: A unique ID that is automatically generated by Amazon, used to identify your Associates account. IDs for US accounts end in -20, UK accounts -21, etc.
Time offset: If your host's server time is off, this allows you to coordinate your site's time with the Amazon servers. This rarely happens, mostly with very small web hosts.
Preferred merchant ID: This allows you to select which merchant offers to display in your store. By selecting "All", you can display offers from all merchants. Setting it to Amazon will narrow it down to only offers by Amazon and eliminates third party offers.
Merchant ID: This is similar to Preferred merchant ID and both work together. For example, lets say you want to sell widgets at your store. Amazon sells plaid widgets and "Wacky Widgets" (a third party merchant) sells the same kind of widget and also green widgets. By setting the merchant ID only for for Amazon, it would show only Amazon's widgets. But if you set the merchant to "All" and the Preferred to Amazon, it would show Amazon's offer for the first widget and also show the green widget from Wacky Widgets.
Condition: Allows you to choose the condition of the merchandise shown in your store. Options are All, New, Used, Refurbished and Collectible.
Store locale: The physical location of your intended targeted visitor and buyer. Locales include US, The United Kingdom, Japan, France and Germany. Amazon Associates do not have to reside in the same area as their stores' locales. However, Amazon has different programs for each locale and you must apply to each one separately.
Show only available items: Allows you to decide whether or not to display out of stock items in your store. (Does not work if condition/merchant id is different than All)
